skillBUILD trainings develop the talents and tools of professionals for their workplace and community
2021 skillBUILD Series:
We believe you must lead to innovate and you must innovate to lead. More so than at any other time in our history, today’s dynamic environment requires great attention to leading self, teams, organizations, and communities. This year’s series will continue to build on innovation concepts from 2020 (i.e. Cultivating an Innovation Ecosystem and Leveraging Collective Genius) with a focus on: Being an Innovation Catalyst; Harnessing Creative Abrasion; Balancing Innovation Tensions; and Cultivating Collaboration.
Session 2: Harnessing Creative Abrasion
During this live online and highly interactive workshop, participants will explore how more conventional leaders stifle innovation by preserving harmony, muffling creative disagreement, and limiting the number of good options considered. Through a progression of specifically choreographed conversations, participants will learn the role of healthy conflict, disagreement, and diversity of thought in cultivating an innovation ecosystem. By the end of the workshop, participants will learn how to harness creative abrasion to drive innovative idea generation through discourse and debate.
